WOW!!! I am truly amazed at the support, prayers and love this horse is receiving. I thought maybe our sport took a hit on that dreadful day, but to my surprise, I am delighted to see that our love for these horses and our love for this sport may have gotten even stronger. Barbaro, the Belmont just didn't seem the same without you there. I truly believe you had a chance to take it all this year and I can say without a doubt, that you did take it all in my heart. I Love you big guy... you are an inspiration. Keep being the "perfect" patient. Someday we will be reminded of just how perfect you are when your babies are born....
Much love from North Dakota!

Dear Barbaro,
You are in our thoughts every day and our daughter really loves you! While you still have a long recovery ahead, each day you do well and remain the great patient you are, you will be able to look forward to a happy and fulfilling life ahead as well as more ground and space to roam in than the stall you have now to recuperate in. Best wishes for a long, healthy, and happy life.

The journey continues..You know, there's a lot of bumps in the road of life, whether you are a person, a dog/cat or a thoroughbred like yourself. You will handle the bumps, but be careful of the holes in the road/pasture. It's the journey that counts & brother, what a wonderful journey awaits you..From Feburary to July or so, lots & lots of beautiful Mares are awaiting you to inplant your seed, so that your Sons & Daughters will give so many people the pleasure of grooming, breaking, training, riding your off-spring..Your Dad,"MR D", Dynaformer now has right at 75 Graded Stakes Winners, Of course 4 of them are yours. I hope you can produce an equal or higher number with your Sons/Daughters..I,ve got a strong feeling that you can, because of your Will to win,intelligence/calm demeanor, your dad lacks the later, sorry mr "D"..One day at a time...Plenty of time for the girls next year & many years thereafter..Tommy,my Bichon Frise & I send lots of love to you, the Jacksons, Michael, Peter, Edgar, Groom, Dr Richardson & all of the staff at New Bolton Vet Center....

What a wonderful story that has come out of such a tragic accident. Although I don't have race horses, I have always admired the Thoroughbred & have often imagined the thrill that there must be seeing your horse cross that finish line first. That must be true even more so at the Classics. I do know the saddness when a injury robs your horse from reaching his potential. I am reminded of a passage(that I have read any times over the years) in the book Album of Horses by Marguerite Henry when she writes of Samuel Riddle refering to the "heart" of the
Thoroughbred. Mr. Riddle would say that "Thoroughbreds don't cry" and would speak of Assault, Black Gold, Dark Secret and War Admiral, the ones who showed this courage. Ms. Henry finishes the chapter with this: No Thoroughbreds don't cry. Big in heart, high in courage, they go on to finish the race.
Gretchen, Roy, Michael and Barbaro - all of you are true Thoroughbreds. Thank You!

Must be his wonderful spirit that I have connected with. If you would like to post it with the pictures I can send it over, just need an address ! I love this horse,The world loves this horse-God has blessed this unity of many talents-wonderful things can happen out of terrible situations.
I would love to visit Barbaro someday -until then I will keep up with his progress online -Thank you for sharing with us ! God bless to all !

Words cannot express the sadness, horror and grief experiences while witnessing the events of the Preakness. The sight of Barbaro in distress will always be in my mind. But so is the pictures of Barbaroin his stall, recovering, eating hay and nuzzling the vets who care for him so brillantly.
Barbaro is a true champion, the likes we have not seen in a long time. All of the people around him are also true champions - the Jackson family who are nothing but a CLASS ACT, Michael Matz and his family, truly caring, loving, "stand up" people, Dr Dean and the other vets - all BRILLANT and should be praised to the heavens for everything that did and continue to do for this wonderful horse.
Everyone touching Barbaro resonates with skill, care, love, TALENT, knowledge, LOVE OF THE ANIMAL, you are all true first class horsemen and women.
Barbaro is a champion surrounded by champions. All of America is behind this remarkable horse and his owners, trainer, jockey, exercise rider(s), grooms, vets. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Barbaro... This Saturday The Belmont will run here in NY without you, one of the greatest horses to come around in a long while!! They will place a blanket of flowers on the winners back, but that will not matter to many of us who have given our hearts away to you. We will all imagine you there in the winners circle after capturing the last leg of the Triple Crown. Barbaro, you have already won the Triple Crown, Breeders Cup and Horse of the Year.
May you continue to improve every single moment that you stand in that stall, being so brave, and fighting with all you have to stay here with all that love you. Soon you will feel the sun on your back. God Bless you, you inspire us all.

Barbaro, we're so proud of you. Hang in there "Big Hoss" - your sort-of great-great-uncle Avery says to tell you if HE can do it, YOU can do it! (Of course, he also recommends light entertainment during stall rest in the form of biting people, chewing up halters and lead ropes, pinning your ears, and headbutting, which you should probably take with a grain of salt.)

Dear Barbaro, This is my second email and I have had friends and relatives email you to wish you well. So many people care about you! You were so unfortunate in your tragic accident. But you are most fortunate in the love of the people around you, your wonderful owners, trainer, and rest of the team, and in the care and optimism of your doctor and medical team trying so very hard to save you. While you aren't out of the woods, so to speak, for awhile, your being such a good patient and the positive energy all around you should help. God bless and keep fighting, champ!

Hey Barbaro,
Bud, you are one amazing horse. I knew the moment I saw you in the papers, you were gonna be good. no, not good. not great. not even fantastic. I knew you'd be fantabulous (a cross between fantastic and fabulous). And guess what else? Last year, Giacomo won the Derby. He has 7 letters in his name and was the #8 position, and so were you this year. It was the #6 slot that was bad luck. Anyways, just about every horse fan out there is praying for you. Get well soon bud, and don't pressure yourself to get back too fast. We love you.

I've been following Barbaro's recovery and have been amazed at his calm and strength thoughout this ordeal. He is truely an awsome horse to take such a horrendous mishap in stride and with such grace.
Thank you Edgar for getting him pulled up so quickly so that he will have a second chance at life.
I would also like the Jackson's to know that they are an example to all owners out there for putting the welfare of their horse first. When something tragic like this happens there are too many owners whose first thought is for what they have lost and not for what the horse has lost. These beautiful animals put their lives on the line each time they go to the track.
My every hope is for Barbaro to recover enough to live a pain free life for many years to come.

I was most upset that horrible Saturday on the initial problem with the gate, nevermind what happened afterwards.
Now they feel for sure that you were clipped from behind by Brother Derek, no wonder you had so many fragments of bone within your ankle after the injury!!
Anyway, I am so glad to hear that you are doing so well, & please do as your Drs. tell you, & behave yourself so that you do not re-hurt anything.
Take care, so that you may have a very enjoyable life.

WE LOVE BARBARO. HE IS A TRUE SIGN OF STRENGTH AND THE AMERICAN SPIRIT.
PLEASE WISH HIM A SPEEDY RECOVERY.
FOR ALL THOSE FUTURE TRIPLE CROWN TRAINERS, PLEASE DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST DAY TO GET YOUR HORSE TO THE TRACK. I TRULY FEEL THAT TOO MUCH EXCITEMENT TOO SOON WITHOUT ENOUGH TIME TO SETTLE IN KEEPS THE HORSE IN AN UNHEALTHY "HYPER" STATE.

King Barbaro! May God and Counrty find you getting better with each & every passing day. You are sorely missed. While your horrific, life threatening injuries may take some things loved away, KNOW that you have made a life long difference to racing standards and humans themselves. The tracks are changing just among the many things. You have left your profound mark forever upon so many. Thank you for your Spirit & Heart, which makes you uniquely you and worthy of the world's attention. God save Barbaro! Long may you live! Jewels

My gratitude to Ms. Jackson, Edgar Prado, and the fine surgeon and medical team at New Bolton for giving Barbaro a fighting chance. He has the heart of a champion and the intelligence to be a good patience. I hope Barbaro recovers completely from his injury; bless each and every one of you for caring about this special horse; thanks to Ms. Jackson for her caring heart and also to Barbaro's jockey and surgeon for their skills.

Having been a horse lover my entire life, it was with great relief when I realized that Barbaro's life would be given a chance. I seem to remember, in my early years - a story about a horse that was not supposed to make it - and a determined young boy (and a father that helped to some degree) form a sling to support the weight of the horse so that it could recover from a leg injury. It gave me hope that something would come along that might save many horses from an unnecessary end. THANK YOU - for all you do to provide happy endings - and for giving this young colt a future he deserves.

As I watched the Preakness and saw Barbero stumble my heart nearly stopped, and my eyes started to cloud with tears of sympathy. I recently lost a horse to a broken leg ( left fore, compund fracture just above the knee), a filly I had raised form 4 months old. I know the devastation of that loss and prayed as I have never prayed before that all those on the Barbero team would be spared the heartbreak. I've been eagerly following the updates, my heart soaring each day as I read of his improvement. God Bless you all!

I own horses myself, and I was amazed at how well you handled your pain, you just were so good in all that pain, not many a horse would have been able to do what you did. you get well real soon, you may have to realy work at it, but I can see you are allready on your way there. I hope some day to see little Barbaro's on the race track one day. Love your fan Terry

I check on your condition daily becoming increasingly optimistic that you will make a very good and speedy recovery. I also feel a kinship with you Barbaro: after sustaining a serious break to my right ankle, I too have a metal plate and 9 screws. With the excellent care and skills of my orthopaedic surgeon, however, I've made a full recovery and my gait shows no sign of previous injury! God bless this wonderful creature!

You are my all-time favorite horse, Barbaro. It's not just the way you ran, but it's also the incredible inspiration you've been to so many people and what you've done through your story to help other animals and people with disabilities.
I can't wait to see your sons and daughters run. I feel so strongly that one of THEM will finish up for you what you couldn't....WIN THE TRIPLE CROWN.
You had more important things to do, didn't you?
You are SO SPECIAL, Buddy. We love you so much.
I hope all of your human family reads this and knows how much we all send our blessings and heartfelt prayers to all of you.

Dear Barbaro..you are going to make it sweet boy. Dr. Richardson, The Jackson's, Mr. Matz, and Edgar are truly the very best. I think the most favorite picture so far is the one today of Edgar kissing you and you loving him back. I know you will forever be grateful to him for "saving your life". My prayers are with you everyday and I know you are going to pull through these months of recovery. You gave us so much in your short career and you will never be forgotten. I want you to enjoy your retirement fields of buttercups and alot of little winning Barbaro's and Barbarett's. We love you!

Barbaro,
Sometimes the world works in ways we do not understand. Your pain has touched millions of human hearts and made us better people. Thanks to you, your Creator, your kind and loving owners, your devoted trainer and professional, quick-thinking jockey. You have the heart of a TC winner and millions pray you are given the chance to pass that along to many sons and daughters - progeny to continue your lesson to us fumbling humans about what is really important in life: the interdependence of all life forms on one other.
Get Well Brave Boy; our crazy world needs you.

To the Jacksons: I wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your love for Barbaro. So many owners see their horses as nothing more than a business. I wanted to share a story of inspiration with you, just something to remember during the long months ahead. They say that a horse can't live on three legs, but my gelding Echo lived on three legs for SIX LONG months after nearly severing off his front right leg on a sharp piece of metal. The vet strongly advised me to put him down, but I refused. I worked on him for hours each day, cleaning the wound, changing the bandages, hand-feeding him, and even rolling him from side to side when he was too weak to stand. It was hard to see my horse in pain, and I took alot of criticism about "making him suffer." Echo's leg recovered well, and his ever playful spirit tells me he is grateful for the second chance. Twelve years after his accident, he still gallops up to me when I call his name!!

Barbaro,
Watching you in the Derby brought chills up my spine. Watching you in the Preakness brought an overwhelming sadness. You brought images of the Great Ruffian who so valiantly tried to finish her race on three leg. I truly believe you would have been racings 12th Triple Crown winner. What's important now though is that you rest and heal. Maybe someday you will produce a son or daughter who will finish what you started. We love you and pray for a speedy recovery . God Bless You! BARBARO YOU WERE THE ONE
You were the one who would restore a nation and a sport back to times of glory of decades gone by. We watched with hopes and dreams of another TRIPLE CROWN winner. A great athlete on and off the track not seen since Secretariate.
In a flash time stood still and we held our breaths, it was over and then you showed us all what you were really made of! You captured the hearts of a nation like non seen before Seabiscuit or after.
My great beauty, you wre robbed of a Title that we all know had your name on it. But you were marked for something even greater. You brought a nation and a sport together, if not but for a moment.
We only get a glimpse of one as great as you in once but a century, if we are lucky!
We can only hope and pray that you will stay with us, so your sons and daughters can claim what was rightfully yours.
I wish I was with you, to talk sofly and tell you it will be alright! But never fear, my great one, we are there with you in thoughts and prayer.
Get well, and I look to see you happy and full of it once again as only you can be.

When I was young, I saw the most beautiful movie about an Australian racehorse named Phar Lap. He touched my heart so deeply because of his big heart.
Barboro, you touch my heart just as deeply because you are a champion of champions! My family and I were heart-broken as we watched the Preakness last Saturday.
I am so happy to hear that you are doing well! We will continue to pray for you and check on you.
~Get well soon~

Barbaro---
A nation stands captivated.
Our hearts were filled with thrill and exhilaration as we watched your breathtaking Derby run.
Our hearts began to believe that you had "it"...perhaps you were "the one".
Our hearts shattered as we watched your final race and your excruciating pain.
Our hearts now desperately wish for your complete recovery. We would love to see you simply stand in a serene, plush paddock living a pain free life for many many years.
God bless, comfort and remain with your connections and caretakers. My prayers and love are with you all and Barbaro. A tremendous thank you to all for the efforts and care he has and will receive. For now we know we did see "the one".
A true champion that captivated a nation.

I join the thousands that wish you the best of luck, Barbaro. I'll never forget your first stakes victory, the Laurel Futurity. I'm a fan of your sire, Dynaformer, and it was clear that you were a very talented colt when you won the Laurel Futurity by eighth lengths last Nov. 19. I was on the air at HRTV for that race. Of course, you would have success on both the turf (three wins) and dirt (three wins). Your Kentucky Derby was superlative, a 6 1/2 length romp. That margin was bigger than the winning Derby margins of Secretariat, Seattle Slew and Affirmed combined (5 3/4 lengths). I'm glad, Barbaro, you've done so well in the first five days since your surgery. I hope your recovery continues to go well, as do all of us at HRTV.

Had bad luck not grabbed onto you last Saturday, I know you would have did your best to win and probably triumphed. Had your racing days not been cut short, I know you would have become a legend on the track. However, you have now become something far more important. You are an inspiration to our country. You embody everything that is good about America and you symbolize what makes our country great. Good luck to you in whatever future God has in store for you. I hope to meet you in person someday, give you a kiss on the nose and thank you for all the great memories you have given us. I hope to see you frolicing in your beloved Buttercups soon. Why the outpouring of love and prayers for this horse? Why the sentiments of gratitude and continuing good tidings for his owners, the Jacksons, his trainer, jockey and all the veterinarians and support staff? It took a horse and his injured ankle to give mankind another leg to stand on as far as proving that we can continue to bear humility, compassion , trust, hope and unconditional love. Through this beautiful equine specimen, hurt and waylaid, we learned once more to rally and pray together, to believe in the Divine that created him and to trust that love will be enough for his and all of our salvation. Thank you Barbaro for running your great races with good graces and for showing us just how it gets done when we trip and fall in our respective runs. What a great life you've had and will continue to have for many more years - thanks to your patrons and guardians. We are so lucky to have had someone like you in our lifetime Barbaro. Barbaro will always have the spirt of a true champion.Everyone talks of the physical aspects to over come. But being permantly disablied myself,3 years ago with an out of the blue illness, the mental aspect of a career ending injury far out weighs the the physical. You see he thinks he can still do it all.The same routine is what makes him happy...he will miss training, traveling, pampering and the thrill from the crowd. For him to recover you see he will need the people who have been there for him the last 3 years.God checks our faith through greatness and sadness, its how well we adapt....look it as the glass is still half full...great memories...and Barbaro is just a few minutes away to comfort your mind on what might of been...buts whats most important ....you have a gift Barbaro.

This amazing sport can lift you so high and rip you so far down in a matter of weeks. Barbaro was the Triple Crown winner--there is not a doubt in my mind. His flash, beauty and determination were demonstrated well Preakness Saturday, and his champion qualities accented when he struggled to continue running on three legs. He has joined the Immortals; Black Gold, Ruffian, Go For Wand...with one important exception: he has a chance to survive. We've seen a lot for the ages in this new millennium; Fusaichi Pegasus, Tiznow, Point Given, War Emblem, Funny Cide, Smarty Jones, Afleet Alex...Barbaro...just like Seabiscuit during the Depression and Secretariat during 'Nam, it seems the best come at the worst times in history.
What does next year hold?
Went into the Preakness a horse; came out a Legend.
Keep it up, kid.

I grew up reading The Black Stallion series of books, which I think colored my view of horse racing. Although I'm vegan and do not believe in using animals for our own pleasure- whether it's eating them, wearing them, experimenting on them or watching them at a circus- I prefer to think that horses would flat out refuse to race if they didn't want to. I'm thankful that Barbaro is recovering well, and I'm also thankful that his guardians- I refuse to call them owners- are the sort of people that they are, and are sparing no expense to help him get well. When you take on the care of an animal, you have as much responsibility for its health and happiness as you do for your human family members. It's obvious that the Jacksons know that. My prayers are with you, Barbaro.

I always try to catch the Triple Crown races on television. I missed the Preakness and am so glad I did. To have seen this majestic creature break his leg at the time it was broken would have been horrible. Only now when I know he's on the mend can I watch it, tho, I prefer not to. I just want to hear the good news and so far it sounds very good. I will not watch races on muddy tracks either. And, I hate western movies when the horses fall. You can't tell me that doesn't hurt those horses!!!But I digress. All my best to Barbaro and to his guardians who only want to see him come back to good health. Thank goodness for kind, loving and caring people, Chris

Barbaro; I sit in front of my computer every day, looking @ your wonderful win pictures from the Holy Bull, Florida Derby & Kentucky Derby & most of all, you with Edgar rubbing your mane in the Kentucky Derby Post Parade. These are great reminders of what a Champion you were on the track. I also have your hat sitting here, purchased @ horsehats.com..I will be adding pictures from your recovery & new career, grazing in green pastures. We all love you..wish all horses had your demeanor/class..Your Dad, Mr."D", Dynaformer sent you a message on Preakness Day, before the accident. I hope/pray that you may join him as one of the worlds leading Stallions...GO BARBARO GO...

Go Barbaro Go!!!! A living legend at the age of 3, who's full of life and trots with glee, an abundance of style and grace, you never lost a race. Your speed and determination WOWED this great nation. Giving fans and onlookers a new appreciation. You are the epitome of, "he's got heart", but we knew that from the start. Barbaro the brave, we say for you persevered on that fateful day. Waiting with baited breath, our hearts in our throats, our stomachs in our chests, you proved above all that you are the best. As each day goes on we know you will be strong, which gives us hope in so many different ways, indeed a true hero for the modern day!

Immediately after the accident the talking heads were saying how racing was doomed etc. I think they are wrong. Barbaro's courage and will to live has shown a side of racing that should appeal to the masses, and show that the horses and the people involved are not just gambling machines like the stinkin' slots. I am a fan of horse racing, and this is such a terrible thing to happen. I am thankful to the Jackson's for caring about the horse, not the money, they are wonderful, and Michael Matz, for being such a stong support for Barbaro, and to the jockey for pulling him up when he did this injury could have been a lot worse than it was. And to Barbaro, for not only being a winner, but showing all who care that he is a true champion athlete. Each day that passes he shows the world that he is a champion.
So Barbaro you hang in there buddy, and get well, there are green pastures waiting for you at home.
God Bless
Go Barbaro (the great)

Bardaro, I was one of those odd ones odd, who wasn't to sure about you in the Derby. But you sure proved me wrong! And you certainly showed those horses in the Preakness! Just like Smarty, I still think you won the Preakness, even if you started twice And ran 50 strides out. Those were some nice 50 strides might I add, moving up to 3erd position so quick!
With my theory of your injury, assessing several video's and pciture shots.. I honestly think that Platinum Couple had hit you left hind throwing you off balance, and with 20+ landing per second, you just repeadetly landed on your ankle, just shattering it more from the start.
I hope your recovery goes well, and hold your head high nomatter what! Your a Thoroughbred anyways, Heart of the Champion Head of an Arabian! Just keep uo there bud! You've got public
Well, here is a picture I made for you. Not sure if the image with work, so if not here's a link:

All I can say is you poor, poor baby! I have been praying for you and hope you will be okay. You are a very handsome horse and I am sure all the girl horses love you too. I have even heard you are flirting with them. Get better first, they will wait for you. I don't bet on the houses because I don't gamble but I always pick out the house I think looke the best (I don't pay attention to the odds.) I am glad to hear people are picking grass for you. I guess I'm not the only one who loves animals. I will let you go because you need to rest, but know that lots of people love you and don't care if you race again. All we care about is that you live.
